Cultural Resources
The West Virginia Division of Highways is committed to protecting our state's cultural resources. These resources are architecture (resources above ground) and archaeology (resources below ground.) In 1966 the US Congress passed a bill called the National Historic Preservation Act (www.archp.gov and www.nps.gov). In doing so, Congress stated the preservation of our nation's heritage is in the public interest. As a result, all federally funded projects, like Corridor H, must identify and consider the possible adverse effects on historic properties.
