Public meeting planned for Corridor H Bike Trails in Randolph and Tucker Counties
The West Virginia Division of Highways will hold an informational public meeting on Tuesday, June 26, in the cafeteria of Tucker Valley Elementary/Middle School at 100 Crest Avenue in Hambleton on the bike trails proposed along Appalachian Corridor H as mitigation for construction of the highway. Two segments, totaling nearly 20 miles on abandoned Western Maryland Railroad right of way, are currently under construction from Randolph County 219/21 to a point west of the Parsons railroad depot, including a two-mile segment from Leadsville to Gilman that will be paved for handicapped usage.
Scheduled in a workshop format from 4 to 7 p.m., the meeting will afford participants an opportunity to ask questions and state their opinions on the trails, which will eventually include additional segments from the area under construction to Mt. Storm Lake. Highway officials will present information and receive public input.
Those wishing to file written comments may send them to Jim Sothen, P.E. Director, Engineering Division, West Virginia Division of Highways, Capitol Complex Building Five, 1900 Kanawha Boulevard East, Charleston 25305-0430 on or before July 16, 2001.
