WVDOH Conducts Public Informational
Meeting in Parsons
Charleston, W. Va. The West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) will conduct a public informational meeting at the Tucker Valley Elementary/Middle School in Parsons, W. Va. from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m today.
Representatives from the WVDOH and the consultant working on Corridor H, Michael Baker Jr., Inc., will be on hand to answer questions and take comments from the public.
"We are here today to gather input from the public and to answer questions regarding the current status of this segment of Corridor H," Norse Angus, transportation analyst manager, said. "We are studying new alignments in the Parsons' area. The Settlement Agreement allowed construction of Corridor H to continue on several sections, such as in Hardy and Randolph counties, while concerns in Parsons, Thomas, and Davis, are being resolved."
Angus continued, "Although we are studying new alignments to avoid the Corricks Ford Battlefield, the original alignment may still be selected if the new alignments will have more impacts on this area than the original one."
Dave Clevenger, section head for the Consultant Review Section, explained, "We are here today because it's important for the Division of Highways to let the public know what we are doing on the Corridor H project. We want to be available to answer questions and provide information so that citizens know what is happening in their communities."
Clevenger continued, "In addition to talking with folks today about their questions, anyone may send the Division of Highways questions about Corridor H through the Corridor H web site. Maps, meeting notices and updates are made available to the public through the web site. It is just another way for us to keep the public informed."
