West Virginia DOT Representatives and Local Leaders View Sections of Corridor H

Elkins, W. Va. – To celebrate another milestone in the construction of the Corridor H project, Secretary for the West Virginia Department of Transportation Samuel H. Beverage and Senator Michael Ross are in Elkins today to meet with the media and inspect nine sections of the roadway. Three sections are expected to be completed next month and six are still under construction.

Collectively, the three completed sections begin at the intersection of Corridor H with Route 33 and stretch to Route 1 near Route 219 on the north side of Elkins. The cost of these projects are approximately $67.2 million.

"The completion of these sections signifies that Corridor H is progressing toward its opening. I am very proud that we are once again making strides to make Corridor H a reality," said Beverage.

"We are excited about being able to help make eastern West Virginia a greater prospect for business and economic expansion in West Virginia. Governor Underwood has envisioned Corridor H for many years and we are striving to make his vision a reality."

The remaining nine segments of this section of Corridor H, connecting Route 33 to Route 219 are expected to be completed in November 2001.
