WVDOH Says Corridor H Settlement Pending Final Signatures
Charleston, W. Va. – An official from the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) said today that the Corridor H settlement agreement is still on track, even though details cannot yet be released.

Joe Deneault, state highway engineer for the WVDOH, said that his department had been receiving many phone calls concerning the settlement agreement. "People are concerned that the agreement has fallen through because we have not been able to publicly announce the details of the settlement. But we want the public to understand the complexity of this process."

Deneault said details cannot be released to the public until all parties involved in the legal dispute concerning the proposed four-lane highway have signed the final agreement. The document must then be sent to a federal judge in Washington, D.C. for final approval.

"The delay in releasing details is attributed largely to the fact that there have been so many parties involved in this legal process. It takes time to circulate the settlement agreement for final signatures. Based on the conditions of the agreement, no details can be released until this occurs," he said.

The state highway engineer added that the highway department is very pleased with the settlement agreement. "The citizens of West Virginia will also be pleased. This agreement is worth waiting for; it's a win-win situation for all parties involved."

Deneault added that details of the agreement should be released soon. "We encourage everyone to stay tuned to the Corridor H web site at www.wvcorridorh.com for the latest details on the settlement agreement."
