Pre-Bid Conference Set for Corridor H Construction Projects
Charleston, W. Va.—The West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) announced today that it will hold a mandatory pre-bid conference for two construction contracts on Corridor H from Moorefield to Baker on Wednesday, April 26 at 1:30 p.m.

The conference will take place in Building 5, Room A122 at the State Capitol Complex.

Highway Commissioner Sam Beverage said, "We will hold a pre-bid conference to make sure all bidders understand the environmental commitments the Division of Highways has made and to inform them of the other special features of the Corridor H projects."

According to WVDOH, the Federal Highway Administration signed an amended Record of Decision on this 14-mile section of Corridor H last week.

"This is the final document we need to begin construction in this area of Corridor H. After 35 years, this road is finally becoming a reality," said Commissioner Beverage.

WVDOH resumed construction in the Elkins area last month after reaching a settlement agreement with opponents to the project. "Thanks to the settlement agreement, we are allowed to once again break this 100-mile project up into segments. This allows us to build certain sections while we finish work on other sections. We will now have construction started on the eastern end and the western end of the project," added the Commissioner.

Bids for the contracts will be taken on May 16. According to Beverage, "We will repeat this process every two weeks until the 14-mile Moorefield to Baker Section is all under construction."

Construction will begin this summer. For updates on the Corridor H project, log on to the web site dedicated to Corridor H at www.wvcorridorh.com.
