Local Residents to Participate in Corridor H Moorefield Groundbreaking

Charleston, W. Va. -- Governor Cecil H. Underwood and Senator Robert C. Byrd will join local residents and guests at a groundbreaking ceremony in Moorefield on Wednesday, May 31 to celebrate construction of Corridor H. The Honorable Alice Hartman, mayor of Franklin, and the Honorable Larry Snyder, mayor of Moorefield will begin the ceremony with the invocation and official welcome. Lucy Ours, the current Miss West Virginia will sing the National Anthem, as the local VFW / American Legion hold the presentation of colors.

Entertainment will be provided by the East Hardy High School and Moorefield High School bands, as well as a musical interlude by the Petersburg High School Choral Group.

"It is an honor to celebrate this momentous occasion with supporters from the local area as well as the state and federal levels," Governor Underwood said. "Now that construction has resumed on Corridor H, we are ready to begin in the Moorefield area. Corridor H is quickly becoming a reality and as long as I am Governor, I will aggressively pursue its completion."

The groundbreaking ceremony will be held in the field behind the South Branch Valley Inn in Moorefield. Activities will begin at 10:30 a.m. United States Senator Robert C. Byrd will be the keynote speaker at the official ceremony beginning at 11:00 a.m. a reception sponsored by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture will follow the ceremony. The public is invited to attend.
