WVDOH Officials Explain Corridor H Settlement Agreement

Charleston, W. Va. – Representatives from the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) recently met with officials in Tucker County to discuss the settlement agreement that was reached on Corridor H.

State Highway Engineer Joe Deneault, Deputy State Highway Engineer Randy Epperly and Special Assistant to the State Highway Engineer Mike Miano traveled to Thomas, Davis and Parsons to inform city officials and the Tucker County Commission about the details of the settlement and what it means for their residents.

"In our continuous effort to keep those who are affected by Corridor H informed, the West Virginia Division of Highways wanted to be available to these folks for questions regarding the project," Deneault explained. "Throughout stages of the project, the residents of these areas have waited to hear whether or not a settlement agreement would be reached. Now that is has, we wanted to make it positively clear that Corridor H will be built."

According to WVDOH, design and construction could begin between Kerens and Parsons following the completion of an alignment shift study, which will consider options for avoiding the Corricks Ford Battlefield.

Design and construction could also begin between Parsons and Davis following completion of an alignment shift study. This study will be conducted to evaluate shifting the highway to avoid the Blackwater area.

Design and construction could begin between Davis and Bismark following the completion of on-going historic studies. These studies should be complete in approximately eighteen months.
