Corridor H SFEIS Approved
The Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) has approved the Supplemental Final Environmental Impact Statement (SFEIS) for the Kerens to Parsons section of Corridor H.

According to officials from the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH), in accordance with the 2000 Settlement Agreement, the Division of Highways developed and studied additional alternatives to avoid the Corricks Ford Battlefield. These studies were incorporated into the Battlefield Avoidance SFEIS. The approved SFEIS identifies Battlefield Avoidance Alternative DF as the new preferred alternative for the Kerens to Parson section of Corridor H. This alternative has the least impacts to the natural environment.

The approved SFEIS is available for the public to review at the Division of Highways’ offices in Charleston and Elkins, in the county clerks’ offices in Randolph and Tucker counties, in the Region Seven Planning and Development Council’s office in Buckhannon and in the mayor’s offices and post offices in Elkins and Parsons. Copies may also be obtained by writing to Jim Sothen, P.E., Director, Engineering Division, Division of Highways, Capitol Complex Building 5, 1900 Kanawha Boulevard East, Charleston, WV 25305-0430. Comments must be received on or before February 25.
