Wardensville Community Improvement Team Select Enhancement Projects
Members of the Wardensville Community Improvement Team (CIT) met Tuesday, February 20, 2001 to draft a Work Plan of potential enhancement projects for the town.

The Town of Wardensville was allotted $1 million through a settlement agreement signed in conjunction with the Corridor H highway project in February 1999 and the group has been meeting regularly since June to determine how they can best spend the money.

In January, team members identified potential projects on which to spend the allocation. At this meeting, Jennifer Logan, a landscape architect with Whitney, Bailey, Cox and Magnani, gave a thorough explanation of each prospective project followed by Charlene Gilliam, with Allegheny Power, who gave a presentation about relocating power lines. Team members voted on what projects were their top priorities and elected to pursue the following ones as enhancement efforts: sidewalk improvements, gateway beautification and additional signage, community park developments and trail and park maintenance. Together, these projects total $726,950 leaving $273,050 for contingencies.

The Wardensville Community Improvement Team will be hosting a community potluck dinner and informational meeting on Saturday, March 24, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. at the War Memorial Building on Main Street in Wardensville. Each resident will be supplied with $1 million "Wardensville Dollars" and given the opportunity to spend it on the projects they favor most. This will help the team to further identify the priority projects for the town. Interested residents are encouraged to attend and vote on their choice of projects.
