Wardensville Residents Vote on Enhancement Projects
A community input meeting/potluck dinner was held March 24, 2001 for Wardensville residents to vote for how they would like the town's $1 million enhancement allocation spent.

This meeting was the third in a series of community input meetings. It was hosted by the Wardensville Community Involvement Team (CIT) at the War Memorial Building in Wardenville.

The meeting began with community announcements and an awards presentation by the Shade Tree Commission of Wardensville. In conjunction with the National Arbor Day poster contest, the commission sponsored a local contest for community children. The theme was "Trees are Terrific and Forests are Too." The winners were recognized and awards certificates were presented.

Following dinner, Pat Ford and Jennifer Logan of Whitney, Bailey, Cox and Magnani described nine proposed enhancement projects for the group. The nine projects were selected based on public input from previous planning meetings. Attendees were given 10 stickers, each representing $100,000, that they could use to vote for the project or projects of their choice. Click here to see a chart that lists each project, details about the project and the estimated cost.

The photos below illustrate the meeting's activities.

Jennifer Logan of Whitney, Bailey, Cox and Magnani uses representational drawings and a project chart to answer the crowd's questions.

Participants review the project information sheet prior to voting. Residents vote for the project(s) they prefer.
