| Wardensville Residents Hold Planning Meeting
In response to the Corridor H Settlement Agreement that was reached earlier this year, the Wardensville Transportation Enhancement Program held its first in a series of Community Planning Workshops last week led by Pat Ford, the designated mediator for the committee.
The group discussed a $1 million allocation that is to be made available for streetscape or other permanent capital improvements for the town of Wardensville. In his presentation, Ford outlined the process that the committee will follow in order to craft their final recommendations to the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH). The eight-step process included:
- Understanding boundaries
- Creating a vision
- Discussing the roles of the participants
- Discussing oversight and accountability
- Identifying assets and problems
- Defining activities and set priorities
- Drawing up a work plan
- Creating final recommendations.
Finally, Ford helped the committee determine a schedule for upcoming meetings and establish a completion date for the group that will be in spring 2001.
Special Assistant to the State Highway Engineer, Mike Miano attended the meeting to represent the WVDOH and answer any questions that the citizens may raise. Miano explained, "A $1 million allocation is a significant amount of money and these meetings are organized to help the citizens of Wardensville spend it the most effectively. This group is the best forum for interested residents to voice their concerns and opinions."
The next meeting for the Wardensville Enhancement Fund Committee will be at the Little Me Great Me Daycare Center at 7:00 p.m. on July 25, 2000.
