Wardensville Group Conducts Third Planning Meeting
Members of the Wardensville Community Development Team met for the third time at 7:00 p.m. on August 15, 2000. Designated facilitator for the group, Pat Ford of Whitney, Bailey, Cox and Magnani opened the meeting by reviewing the boundary area that the committee established at the previous meeting.

Ford then introduced the topic of discussion for the meeting entitled "Creating a Vision." Ford explained that the purpose was to "develop a consensus on goals for the Wardensville community" and develop strategies to meet those goals. Some of the elements that the committee identified for their vision for Wardensville include:
  • Family and senior-citizen friendly
  • Establish an identity for the town
  • Attractive, vibrant downtown
  • Welcoming and hospitable
  • Complete improvements that reflect the existing character of the town
  • Maintain scenic vistas
  • Stimulate economic growth and investment, and encourage new residents
  • Showcase area history
  • Create access so that the town is liveable and walkable
  • Safe to walk, drive and park
  • Reflect community pride
  • Make improvements easy and inexpensive to maintain
  • Create shared interest

The remainder of the group's discussion revolved around the Community Input Meeting scheduled for Saturday, September 9, 2000. Following a potluck dinner, residents will be encouraged to visit three information stations displaying facts about the boundaries of the project area, the committee member's vision for the town of Wardensville, and examples of projects that other towns have competed.

The Community Input Meeting will be at the War Memorial Building in Wardensville at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2000. All residents are encouraged to attend.
