Community Improvement Team Conducts
October Meeting
The Wardensville Community Improvement Team (CIT) met on October 11, 2000 to discuss who will be responsible for implementing the five-year plan of spending $1 million in enhancement funds for the town of Wardensville.

Pat Ford, designated facilitator for the group, opened the meeting by talking about what will happen once the CIT meetings are over and the team has disbanded. "The CIT is only responsible for creating the spending plan. I recommend that you set up another group to ensure that it is being accurately and completely executed," Ford said.

Based on past experience and strong and steady attendance at the CIT meetings, Ford suggested that the Town Council of Wardensville set up a similar, permanent group to oversee the completion of the plan.

Ford then proposed that the group include residents of Wardensville and the surrounding areas representing the following groups:

  • An elected official from the Town of Wardensville
  • The leader of a local civic organization
  • Two local business leaders
  • Two area residents
  • A young person representing the youth of the area
  • An engineer
  • A bank official
  • A representative from the West Virginia Division of Highways

CIT members then voiced their support for Ford's idea and said that the Town of Wardensville would strongly encourage the formation of such a group.

The next meeting of the CIT will be November 1, 2000 at 7 p.m. at the Wardensville Meeting Hall where the team will identify assets and problems associated with the town. There is also a Christmas Community Potluck Dinner scheduled for December 9, 2000.
